ARW Contracting, Inc. is a well-established, family owned and operated, local General Contractor seeking experienced lead carpenter/mechanic to join our team full-time. The majority of our work consists of commercial renovation, alteration, up-fit, some new construction in a number of different types of facilities and can vary greatly so the applicant must be able to apply his skills in different situations.
This is a full-time position; we are busy year-round and offer a stable employment opportunity. Our projects are in and around Richmond, VA and the tri-cities. We are looking for someone who is a team player, and also able to work independently.
Daily tasks may include demolition, metal and wood stud framing, trim work, drywall installation, concrete forming, windows, doors/frames/hardware installation and other duties as needed. The Carpenter may also work in conjunction with subcontractors and vendors.
Minimum Job Skills & Requirements:
5 or more years of commercial experience with carpentry including demolition, framing and trim skills
Ability to communicate clearly with employees, subs and clients
Basic understanding of construction documents as required to perform specific tasks
Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction
Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools (powered saws, hammers etc.)
Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to fully grasp requirements
Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed
Good understanding of basic math
Good physical condition and endurance
High school diploma or equivalent
Transportation to and from the jobsite each day with valid VA driver's license
Must be able to pass background check and be drug free
Provide your own hand tools and small power tools
