Summer Lifeguard

Job Description Summary: University of Richmond Summer LifeguardResponsible for the supervision and operations of the pool and pool area during operating hours. The lifeguard will ensure the safety of patrons in and around the pool area.JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Open facility and greet patrons upon their arrival, to include notifying the on-duty Facility Manager to unlock the pool. Enforce facility rules and regulations regarding the safe and proper use of the pool, deck and diving boards. Oversee activities in and around the pool at all times. Serve as a first responder in the event of an emergency. Complete facility participation reports. Secure the facility upon closing, to include notifying the on-duty Facility Manager to lock the pool. Administer facility evaluations. Attend and participate in departmental employee training programs.CONTACTS:Weinstein Center Members (students, faculty/staff and community) - to assess satisfaction and communicate essential information.SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Does not provide direction to other employeesWORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT:Requires employee to work indoors with possibility of heavy lifting in the event of an emergencyQUALIFICATIONS:Knowledge, skills & ability: Current Lifeguard/First Aid certification Current CPR/AED certificationEducation & experience: Some High School Previous experience lifeguarding is preferredScheduled Hours: Casual position, 20 hours per week, some weekends and eveningsPay Grade 1: $15.00 per hour
