Analytics Corporation has an opening for a full-time polarized light asbestos fiber analyst/microscopist to serve our NVLAP-accredited laboratory. We utilize standardized industry methods and techniques, as well as our own accepted proprietary methods. This position requires attention to quality, safety, and environmental matters while following all company standard operating procedures and maintaining data quality and data integrity.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Working with a team of professionals in a laboratory setting

Preparation and analysis of various materials and matrices (bulk, soil, etc.). using standardized methods for asbestos content using PLM (Polarized Light Microscopy) and PCM (Phase Contrast Microscopy)

Determination of visual percentage and optical properties of asbestos and non asbestos material

Complete QA/QC practices per company QA/QC manual and able to follow SOPs

Assist the laboratory with maintaining the laboratory NVLAP annual accreditation requirements

Readings, log in and track client samples, prepare and sign off on PLM & PCM laboratory reports

Understanding and performing sample analysis per client chain of custody requests

Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining efficiency and attention to detail

Other laboratory duties may be assigned by management as needed

Some clerical work involved - data entry, scanning, etc.

Job Requirements for PLM/PCM Microscopist:

Minimum requirement of HS degree/equivalent

Associates/Bachelor's Degree preferred or Pursuing, undergraduate and/or graduate degree in a life science, environmental science, geology or engineering

1-2 years of previous academic or commercial lab experience a plus

Candidate must be able to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to write technical reports

Prioritize your workload, stay organized, and are detail oriented

Must be able to work independently and with a team

Must be able to multi-task, and prioritize assignments

Knowledge of LIMS software or other computer skills

Knowledge of Microsoft Office suites
