Adaptive Accommodation Outreach Group, LLC is a person-centered behavioral health organization dedicated to delivering high-quality, evidence-based services for adults with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. Our ASAM Level 2.5 Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program (SAIOP) provides structured, trauma-informed care focused on recovery and wellness.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) to join our multidisciplinary team. This position delivers clinical services within our 2.5 SAIOP program, providing counseling, psychoeducation, treatment planning, and case management services for adults working toward recovery. The CSAC plays a key role in helping clients achieve and sustain recovery through evidence-based practices, DBHDS standards, ASAM criteria, Medicaid regulations, and Virginia Board of Counseling guidelines.
Core Responsibilities:
Adhere to all ethical, legal, and professional standards outlined by the Virginia Board of Counseling and agency policies.
Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments to determine clinical needs, risk factors, and level of care.
Develop, implement, and review individualized treatment plans with measurable goals, objectives, and discharge criteria aligned with ASAM dimensions.
Provide individual and group counseling, psychoeducation, relapse prevention, and aftercare services tailored to client needs.
Provide orientation to patients regarding program objectives, phase system requirements, rules, sanctions, patient rights, and program structure to help facilitate engagement and adjustment.
Facilitate counseling for patients who struggle with compliance to promote accountability and awareness of consequences.
Arrange referrals and coordinate care with outside agencies, medical providers, and community supports as needed.
Recommend revisions to treatment plans considering the severity of substance use, mental health, family/job pressures, physical condition, and client history.
Ensure that services support cultural competence, trauma-informed care, and person-centered approaches.
Provide crisis intervention as needed.
Work with pre-contemplative clients to enhance motivation for change through motivational interviewing and other engagement techniques.
Facilitate psychoeducation on addiction, recovery strategies, and available resources to support clients and families.
Advocate for clients' needs and rights within healthcare and community systems.
Stay current on federal, state, accrediting body, and agency guidelines governing substance abuse treatment.
Pursue ongoing training, certifications, and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
Provide education through lectures or presentations when needed.
Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings, clinical supervision, and staff development trainings.
Develop and implement discharge and aftercare planning to ensure appropriate transition to lower levels of care.
Provide accurate, timely documentation of services including progress notes, treatment updates, discharge summaries, and referrals per Medicaid, DBHDS, and agency guidelines.
Submit monthly and quarterly quality improvement reports to the supervisor.
Perform other duties as assigned to meet program goals.

Qualifications:
Active Virginia CSAC certification or current CSAC Supervisee
Strong knowledge of ASAM criteria, DBHDS regulations, Medicaid documentation standards, and trauma-informed care.
Skilled in group facilitation, individual counseling, psychoeducation, crisis intervention, and motivational interviewing.
Familiarity with CBT, DBT skills, and relapse prevention techniques.
Proficient with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and clinical documentation.
Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
Capable of presenting lectures, psychoeducation groups, and trainings.
