Review the position below and apply today.At this time, Dominion Energy cannot transfer or sponsor a work visa or employment authorization for this position.Job SummaryDominion Energy is excited to offer an opportunity for a 2025 year-round intern to perform engineer tasks supporting the Distributed Energy Resource Management System.This role presents an opportunity to gain hands on experience and contribute to the deployment and operations of Dominion's Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS) platform. During the deployment phase, this role will focus on developing, implementing, and testing interfaces for integrating DERMS with systems like the Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS), PI Historian, Geographical Information System (GIS), etc. During the operational phase, these roles will support grid analysis of different DERMS control strategies, configure parameters for virtual power plants (VPPs), and identify and implement novel DER grid integration techniques. This role will also enable DERMS to support our distribution grid operations for improved reliability and flexibility. This role will also support modeling, baselining and benchmarking Aggregated and Individual DER performance for different grid services including local distribution grid management, bulk grid operations support and participation in energy market services.Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Familiarity with electric power systems and engineering principles.

Hands-on experience or coursework related to distribution systems and engineering tools is preferred.

Familiarity with analysis software and programming languages is desirable, such as C/C, Python, PowerBI, CYME, MATLAB, and Microsoft Office.

Competence in analyzing data and performance metrics to identify potential improvements.

Capability to handle and interpret large datasets effectively.

Capacity to support research and development efforts aimed at innovating next-generation algorithms.

Verbal, written and interpersonal communication; time management and organization; math and technical aptitude.

Effectively interact and work in a team environment; attention to detail; understand and apply work flow process.

Education Requirements

Must have earned a bachelor’s degree in an engineering field and be accepted to and working on a master’s or Ph.D. degree in engineering (preferred fields include electrical engineering) from an ABET accredited Engineering program at a four year or post-graduate college or university.

Must have a 2.5 GPA
