Amentum is seeking a Technical Writer for the Bluegrass Chemical Agent Destruction Pilot Plant project located in Richmond, Kentucky.POSITION REQUIREMENTSBasic Qualifications:High school diploma (or equivalent) and 2 to 4 years of professional, technical, and business writing experienceMinimum Qualifications:
Must be a United States or naturalized citizen able to obtain and maintain Blue Grass Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant (BGCAPP) site access
Must be computer literate in common software applications and able to operate general office equipment
Must maintain fitness-for-duty standards to perform the essential functions of the position, to include any depot or BGCAPP drill, contingency and/or emergency requirement
Excellent written communication skills with ability to communicate complex information in an understandable manner
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft® Word®
Desired Qualifications:
Experience working in a toxic or hazardous environment
Experience in writing and editing industrial operating and maintenance procedures
Proficiency in Microsoft® Office Professional Suite, Adobe® Acrobat® Professional Suite, and other documentation-related software programs
Prefer 4 year’s experience
SURETYThis position is designated as a chemical duty position and is subject to the requirements of the Chemical Personnel Reliability Program (CPRP). As a condition of employment, candidates and incumbents must favorably complete a personnel security investigation, urinalysis testing, medical exam and respiratory screening, and must meet and maintain personnel suitability and reliability requirements established by Army Regulation 50-6. Chemical duties for this position are:Require routine access to chemical surety materials.Are authorized to escort visitors to areas containing chemical surety materials.Control direct access to chemical surety material.Issue proximity cards, personal identification numbers (PINs), keys, combinations, biometric codes, or any other mechanism that provides direct access to chemical surety material.Are motor vehicle/material handling equipment operators involved in movement of chemical agents.Are operators of equipment that disassembles chemical munitions/containers or handle chemical surety materials during demilitarization operations.This position is designated as an unescorted access position and is subject to the requirements of the Unescorted Access Program (UAP). As a condition of employment, candidates and incumbents must favorably complete a personnel security investigation, urinalysis testing, respiratory screening, and must meet and maintain personnel suitability and reliability requirements established by the Blue Grass Army Depot Commander.POSITION DESCRIPTIONTypical responsibilities include the following:
Performing all work safely and with the utmost concern for the safety of self and other employees
Performing all work in compliance with environmental permits and regulations
May be required to work overtime or varying hours
Being at work during scheduled hours and maintaining a good attendance record
Working on and/or in close proximity to a chemical demilitarization facility
Planning, organizing, writing, editing, prooing, and coordinating the production of simple to highly complex documents for accuracy, consistency, professional quality, and conformance to the appropriate style guide
Ensuring documents are appropriately assembled by using process analysis; higher-order thinking; and editing for language, usage, and style
Working online, as required
Writing and reviewing material that is mostly standardized for reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, catalogs, and related technical and administrative publications concerned with work methods and procedures and installation, operation, and maintenance of machinery and other equipment
Receiving assignments and technical information from a supervisor or senior writer; may be provided notes or manuals containing operating procedures and details, and may observe production, developmental, or experimental activities to expand or verify the provided operating procedures and details
Accessing manufacturers' catalogs, drawings, and other data relative to operation, maintenance, and service of equipment; may have access to blueprints, sketches, drawings, parts lists, specifications, mockups, and product samples to integrate and delineate technology, operating procedure, and production sequence and detail
Organizing material and completing writing assignments according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology
Maintaining records and files for version and revision control
May draft speeches, articles, and public or employee relations releases or specialize in writing material regarding work methods and procedures
Organizing and maintaining document development, revisions, and history using spreadsheets and established databases
Establishing priorities and monitoring tasks to ensure conformance with established standards, procedures, and customer expectations
Meeting with customers to discuss objectives, schedule, and cost parameters of work request
Advising customers on alternative processes, techniques, and materials as the assignment develops
