Summary LOCATION: This position is located in various locations within the San Francisco Region. TOUR OF DUTY: Monday through Friday - 8 hours per day. The availability of flextime and/or AWS is not guaranteed and will vary with assignments. TYPE OF POSITION: These positions will be filled on a temporary basis, NTE 1 year; may not be extended and will not become permanent. Assignments can vary in duration from 30 days to 6 months and may be lateral. Responsibilities The position description numbers for this position are 1F0500 and 1F062S. You may also view the full position description on the Agency intranet at the following link: PD Search The LDP is a formal career development program established to develop supervisory skills and competencies as well as basic leadership skills and to provide the foundation for an effective management career. With the assistance of an assigned Program Mentor and the LDP Program Coordinator, selectees will develop an Individual Development Plan (IDP) designed to provide the Associate with experience which would not normally be available in their routine work environment. The assignments will be constructed specifically to provide Associates with an opportunity to develop targeted leadership skills and to build a more comprehensive knowledge of the work performed throughout the Region. Developmental assignments may include assignments to positions such as Field Office Manager, TSC Manager, Module Manager, etc. More information about assignments can be found on the LDP Website. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications These positions may be filled by temporary promotion or lateral reassignment, candidates must have the following: To be eligible for the GS-14: 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-13 level. Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Examples of specialized experience must have involved the development, examination, investigation, adjudication, or authorization of claims for retirement, survivors insurance, disability insurance, pension programs, health insurance, income maintenance, or related programs; or administration or other experience in the analysis, development, or review of retirement or survivors insurance, disability insurance, health insurance, income maintenance, and pension, or related programs; or experience that provided a broad knowledge of the function or subject area of the position to be filled. This experience must demonstrate ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public; to exercise tact, ingenuity, and resourcefulness in the development of facts and information; and to work well with others. It is the responsibility of the applicant to provide sufficient documentation to show they fully meet the qualification requirements. Applicants must have experience in SSA as a supervisor, team leader, or as a member of an SSA workgroup. Qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Education Additional Information ALL SELECTEES WILL RETURN TO THEIR PERMANENT POSITION OF RECORD (SAME TITLE, SERIES, GRADE AND LOCATION) UPON COMPLETION OF THEIR PARTICIPATION IN THE SAN FRANCISCO LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (LDP). Position to be filled under the provisions of the Management Officials Promotion Plan. The best-qualified list for this vacancy may be used to fill the same or similar positions in a component(s) under the same Deputy Commissioner. Additional selections may be made within 6 months of the date the best qualified list is issued. SSA employees in the San Francisco Region currently serving under the Schedule A, Reg. 213.3102 (U) appointments for individuals with disabilities or time limited appointments for veterans with a compensable service-connected disability of 30% or more. Applicants serving under these provisions do not need to submit copies of your disability or Veteran's documentation. However, you must submit a current SF-50 that provides information on the appointment authority under which you were hired. Otherwise, you will not receive consideration. LOCALITY PAY: Selectees locality pay or COLA percentage will be based on their current permanent duty station. The locality pay percentage varies by the duty station.
