Learn more about our extraordinary teams building inspiring projects in our Impact Report .Project Overview:Bechtel Parsons Blue Grass is the systems contractor selected by the Department of Defense’s Assembled Chemical Weapons Alternatives program to design, build, systemize, test, operate, and close a facility to destroy the chemical weapons stockpile at the Blue Grass Army Depot in Richmond, Kentucky. The Blue Grass Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant (BGCAPP) will safely destroy 523 tons of mustard and nerve agent in projectiles and rockets. Neutralization followed by supercritical water oxidation is the technology selected by the Department of Defense to destroy the nerve agent, while the Explosive Destruction Technology will be used to destroy the mustard in the Blue Grass chemical weapons stockpile.Candidates for unescorted access to the Chemical Limited Area must successfully clear National Agency Check with Local Check (NACLC). All employees are subject and agree to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of employment. The ability to obtain/maintain access to the Blue Grass Army Depot is required. Must be physically fit and able to work safely at an operating plant. Eligible applicants must be a US Citizen and successfully go through a government screening process. Based on project goals and objectives, candidates established within our local community are desirable.Job Summary:The Blue Grass Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant (BGCAPP) is looking for a Industrial Hygienist at the Richmond, KY site location. This position will report to the Industrial Hygiene Manager at the BGCAPP project.This BGAPP position falls under the scope of the McNamara-O’Hara Service Contract Act of 1965 (SCA). The SCA requires BGCAPP to provide employees with benefits and wages no less than the amounts the Department of Labor has established for the location and classification in which the employee will be working.This is a long-term assignment with a 4-10s schedule. The work hours are from 6:30am 5:00pm. This position may require additional overtime hours as deemed necessary. BGCAPP operates on a 24/7 schedule. This position may be required to work a schedule of rotating shifts including nights, weekends or holidays.In this role, you will plan, develop, monitor, and evaluate industrial hygiene (IH) processes for an operating chemical demilitarization facility. Assist project IH Manager in developing and implementing IH programs and procedures, collecting IH data (air, surface, liquid and bulk samples), and implementing IH emergency response capabilities. Interprets routine industrial hygiene requirements, evaluates and applies basic scientific principles, formulates scopes of work, develops and implements industrial hygiene plans, procedures and methodologies suitable for achieving industrial hygiene objectives, and provides technical assistance to the Project IH Manager. #LI-EH1Major Responsibilities:

Provides field and programmatic support for routine industrial hygiene processes and programs on the BGCAPP project.

Assists with integrating specific industrial hygiene requirements by providing input to the Project IH Manager and S&H Team regarding design criteria, construction plans specifications, subcontracts, job hazard/safety analysis, permits and procedures.

Interprets routine industrial hygiene requirements and regulations.

Specifies industrial hygiene equipment for use in field sampling and analyses of results.

Conducts surveys and assessments of work activities to monitor compliance with industrial hygiene requirements including contractual commitments, corporate requirements, and data entry into the Industrial Hygiene Records System (IHRS). This includes both real time and personal air monitoring

Recommends acceptable work practices and corrective actions and ensures their implementation.

Conducts and assists projects with sampling, monitoring, data interpretation and occupational health surveys to ensure compliance with established programs.

Remains cognizant of federal, state, local, or host country regulations affecting industrial hygiene. Ensures dissemination of information on new or revised regulations to supervisory personnel and other employees through verbal and written communications and through revisions to programs.

Assists in preparing specific reports as required in accordance with the Corporate- and Project-specific requirements.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires a bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) related to environmental sciences, field biology, or natural resources with 1-2 years of relevant experience or 5-6 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

Must be a US Citizen

Must be able to obtain and maintain any security clearances required for this position according to Army Regulation 50-6 (Chemical Surety).

Technical knowledge of IH systems, principles, best practices, and calculations and the application of IH methods, standards and materials.

Knowledge of IH training program materials and methods.

Knowledge of problem investigation, regulatory and internal audit practices and procedures.

Knowledge of industrial hygiene standards, regulations, methodologies and resources.

Knowledge of industrial hygiene principles.

Knowledge of engineering, construction, plant operations, and subcontract work processes.

Knowledge of monitoring and sampling methodologies.

Knowledge of engineering control systems to mitigate routine hazards.

Knowledge of routine instrumentation and their capability and use.

Knowledge of the types of general administrative control methodologies.

Knowledge of personal protective equipment requirements.

Skilled in oral and written communication and knowledge of computer applications.

Advanced knowledge in the field of Industrial Hygiene.

Knowledge of S&H procedures, engineering systems, principles, and methodologies.

Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards and criteria pertinent to S&H.

Experience in S&H inspections/assessments preferably in a plant operations environment.

Knowledge of S&H training program materials and methods.

Knowledge of problem investigation, regulatory and internal audit practices and procedures.

Knowledge of hazardous materials and physical risk exposures and Personal Protective Equipment standards.

Knowledge/experience in working with operations involving extensive use of PPE including respiratory protection.

Knowledge of and experiencing working in operations with significant effort associated with confined spaces

Chemical demilitarization/PRP experience or similar experience involving radiological operations such as on a DOE site

Good oral and written communication skills.

Technical Knowledge of IH systems, principles, best practices and application of IH methods, standards, and materials.

Knowledge of and work experience in a PSM environment

Experience working with DOD and Army safety and health requirements

Possesses professional ESH certification from an accredited organization.

Knowledge/experience in working with operations involving extensive use of PPE including respiratory protection.

Knowledge of and experiencing working in operations with significant effort associated with confined spaces

Knowledge of Bechtel standard computer applications.

Chemical demilitarization/PRP experience or similar experience involving radiological operations such as on a DOE site

Certification as an Industrial Hygienist (CIH) preferred

Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST) preferred

This project is subject to the Army Regulations (AR50-6 Chemical Surety) which governs persons performing work under the Chemical Personnel Reliability Program (CPRP) and Unescorted Access Program (UAP). Depending on the work performed and the access granted a government security investigation and other physical requirements such as respirators may be mandated.
