Works in an outdoor, energized substation environment and proficient in the safe operation of multiple HV and diagnostic test instruments. Maintains NERC background compliance requirements, continual safety training, nuclear unescorted access and OEM specific training. Provides technical support to substation and power station personnel in the installation, maintenance and repair of high-voltage electrical equipment including procurement of materials, spare parts and specialty tools; Provides guidance to electrical equipment technicians and substation craft leadership in maintaining and troubleshooting miscellaneous substation equipment including dry air production machinery, SF6 gas reclamation systems, confined space instrumentation, portable combustible gas monitors and high vacuum systems; Analyzes test data to determine the adherence to manufacturer’s performance criteria; Assists with field performance evaluations to assist E.E. supervisor with E.E. technician trainee knowledge comprehension; Performs multiple administrative duties including test data entry, SAP work order completion, Install/Remove form entry and parts acquisition; Performs testing and troubleshooting in the resolution of equipment issues discovered during equipment commissioning and routine maintenance; Assists and performs substation ground grid testing and interprets test data to determine substation/power station ground grid integrity; Develops and reviews transformer fill procedure documents for adherence to OEM assembly, vacuum and oil filling requirements to ensure proper operation and warranty adherence of EHV power transformers; Operates mobile transformer processing rigs including gas and moisture extraction high vacuum pumps, oil circulation pumps, oil immersed heaters, dry air production compressors and refrigerated ice traps to ensure a safe and thorough transformer oil-filling Analyzes oil processing data (vacuum, moisture content, heat absorption, dewpoint and dielectric) to determine transformer oil filling quality; Develops and reviews mobile substation installation plans and performs pre-energization walkdown; Performs testing and installation activities necessary for the successful energization of mobile substation equipment to satisfy project driven temporary substation requirements and emergency power during planned and unplanned substation equipment failures and maintenance; Interprets nameplate data, substation one-line diagrams, factory test reports, electrical schematics, pneumatic schematics, hydraulic schematics and programmable logic controllers (PLC) set-up configurations; Perform thermography (minimum Level 1 thermography certification) for substation, distribution and transmission line equipment and completes infrared report.Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & ExperienceElectrical Equipment Technician T1 (Developmental Level-entry level in a job series)0 - 1 years of directly related utility/industrial electrical experience.Performs assignments designed to develop work knowledge, skills and abilities requiring application of policies, procedures, techniques and other criteria in carrying out all aspects of the job Performs routine work assignments but over time will demonstrate the ability to perform more difficult work assignments Works under established policies and procedures to meet set schedules and system or program requirements; Continues to develop the knowledge, skills and abilities to reach a higher level of proficiency and work complexity.Electrical Equipment Technician T2Requires successful completion of the Electrical Equipment Technician Development Program Steps 1 -2 or equivalent directly related utility/industrial experience.1-2 years of directly related utility/industrial electrical experience.

Assists in the installation, maintenance and repair of high-voltage electrical equipment including procurement of materials, spare parts and specialty tools;

Analyzes test data to determine the adherence to manufacturer’s performance criteria;

Performs multiple administrative duties including test data entry, SAP work order completion, Install/Remove form entry and parts acquisition;

Under senior E.E. personnel guidance, performs testing and troubleshooting in the resolution of equipment issues discovered during equipment commissioning and routine maintenance;

Assists with and performs substation ground grid testing and interprets test data to determine substation/power station ground grid integrity;

Assists with the development of transformer oil processing procedures to develop required skills and knowledge.

Electrical Equipment Technician T3Requires successful completion of the Electrical Equipment Technician Development Program Steps 1-4 or equivalent directly related utility/industrial experience.2+ years of directly related utility/industrial electrical experience.

Full knowledge of manufacturer and company equipment installation, maintenance guidelines and electrical test equipment.

Technical competency in programming PLC's and in interpreting logic diagrams.

Full knowledge of electrical control wiring and proficiency in interpreting control and relay functional diagrams.

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Abilities: Test and troubleshoot high voltage substation and power station electrical equipment; use high voltage test equipment; work under pressure situations.

Maintains NERC background compliance requirements, continual safety training.

Successfully complete all training and performance expectations included in the E.E.T.D.P.

Each role requires:

Carry heavy test equipment up to 150 lbs.

Ability to push equipment cart of up to 500 lbs.

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Due to equipment weight limits, individuals in this role have a weight restriction of 290 pounds.

Education RequirementsMinimum education required:Associate’s degree or an Advanced Post Secondary diploma in one of the following preferred disciplines:

Electrical & Electronic Engineering Technology

Electromechanical Technology

Electronics Technology

Instrumentation Technology

Mechatronic Technology.

Other comparable disciplines may be substituted for the disciplines listed above.
