All brought together in a flexible work environment where you can truly find balance.About the Opportunity The IT Core Infrastructure Services Department is looking for a motivated Data Scientist, reporting to a Sr. Manager Analytics & Business Insights.This exciting opportunity supports the office of the COO within National IT by providing critical insight into IT operations risk and performance. You will build data analysis platforms, models, and actionable visualizations that improve IT operations and business outcomes. As part of this role, you will be a team lead and work with teams within National IT to build requirements and create new metrics, reconcile requirements against available data sources, write scripts to modify and analyze data, and create end visualizations that produce business value. What You Will Do:- Build and support metrics and dashboards to identify and help mitigate IT operational risks across National IT in support of the COO and National business lines
- Be a team lead to build AI, Machine Learning, statistical machine learning models, and other advanced analytic techniques, as well as provide consultative support on when is optimal to use appropriate models
- Mentor members on code, visualizations, and data science best practices to help elevate our ability to apply these concepts more broadly.
- Investigate available data sources for relevant information and make recommendations for updates for processes for improved data gathering.
- Support management of team data and create automated systems to connect to data and extract, transform and structure data for optimal business use.
- Execute ad hoc data research and requirements gathering or for special requests.
- Utilizes available tools for automation of manual processes.
- Work with a broader team operating under SAFe principles.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Bachelor's degree in data science, computer science, statistics, or other related field of study, or relevant work experience. Master's degree preferred
- Data Visualization: Able to present complex data sets for a variety of audiences and uses including executive presentations, operational dashboards, and structured data for interactive investigation.
- Statistical and Machine Learning Modeling: Understanding of Machine Learning modeling techniques and how they are applied to different use cases. Experience building models in either R or Python.
- Data Manipulation: Able to perform cleaning, transforming and structuring of multiple disparate data sources using tools such as Python or R. Able to execute this transformation both in an ad hoc and automated manner.
- Technical Skills: Highly experienced data manipulation tools like Python or R and SQL, highly experienced in data visualization tools such as Tableau, experience with data platforms such as Hadoop and SQL Server, experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure preferred.
- Team Interaction: works with broader analytics team under SAFe principles, mentors team on application of technical skills and solution design.
- Decision Making: Works under direction of team sprint plans; follows established methods and defined policy. Makes decisions on tactical implementation of tasks or when established methods indicate action to be taken.
- Communications: Strong interpersonal, negotiation, creativity, attention to detail, and oral and written communications skills tailored for the intended audience.
- IT Knowledge (desirable): Understanding of IT Infrastructure components, systems and operational processes.
