Posting Details Working Title Land Acquisition & Prop Mgt Agt Position Number 00124A Department REAL ESTATE FOUNDATION Location Norfolk, VA Type of Position Classified Type of Job Full Time EEO Category B Professionals Job Description This position is important to preserve the long-term use of properties in accordance with the University’s strategic plans and to ensure risks related to properties are mitigated. Under limited supervision, this position serves to oversee and coordinate property management and maintenance of Old Dominion University Real Estate Foundation owned properties. Ensures potential risks related to property ownership are effectively dealt with. Supervises all contractors involved in property management activities. Responsible for preparing property related legal documents, appraisals, accounting, and budgeting. Interprets and implements commercial leases, identifies potential tenants and shows available space. Conducts site visits to ensure tenants are in compliance with the terms of their leases and takes corrective action as appropriate.Type of Recruitment Knowledge, skills and abilities Extensive knowledge of property management principles and practices. Extensive knowledge of building construction and maintenance. Extensive knowledge of budget maintenance and general accounting principles. Demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret and implement commercial leases. Knowledge of effective customer service and problem resolution techniques when serving diverse customers. Demonstrated ability to produce documents using PC-based software such as the Microsoft Office Suite. Demonstrated ability to enter and manipulate data and produce reports in database software. Knowledge of effective oral and written communication techniques. Demonstrated ability to work independently.Special licenses, registration or certification Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.Education or training NoneLevel and type of experience Previous property management experience including negotiating maintenance contracts and budget management. Considerable experience as a tenant or buyer representative in commercial real estate transactions and as a commercial property manager.Additional Considerations (supplemental knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, licensure, certification) Preference for CPM Designation, RPA designation, real estate license or other esteemed real estate designations.
