The Role
Lead in-house and subcontractor crews performing underground telecommunications installations, including drop bury and service line construction
Travel to job sites within market territory
Train and develop crew members, provide ongoing performance evaluation and constructive feedback
Manage crew schedules and time-off requests
Coordinate with locating services to ensure proper utility marking before excavation
Assess ground conditions and site challenges before beginning projects
Make real-time decisions about equipment needs and crew assignments
Verify proper depth, cable placement, and conduit installation methods
Ensure proper restoration of excavated areas to meet customer and municipal requirements
Conduct daily safety briefings and ensure compliance with company safety standards and industry regulations
Monitor crew compliance with PPE requirements
Perform quality control inspections of completed work to ensure installations meet company and industry standards
Perform regular equipment and tool inspections
Interface with property owners, local utilities, and municipal authorities as needed
Track project progress and maintain accurate documentation using company software systems
Respond to and resolve field challenges while keeping projects on schedule
Requirements
3+ years of hands-on experience in telecommunications drop bury operations
Previous supervisory experience in utility construction or related field
Strong understanding of underground utility construction practices and safety protocols
Basic computer proficiency with ability to use email, digital documentation systems, and company software
Ability to travel up to 75% within market; driving 2-6 hours with some overnight stays
Physical ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Valid driver’s license
