Job Title: BI Specialist (Tableau)Location:

Herndon, Virginia-20176 (50% onsite, 50% remote)Contract Duration: 4 months (Open ended)

Summary: In this role, BI Specialist is the main force to drive the standardization of Reporting and Data Visualization by collaborating with the members of the Data Science Community across the entire enterprise. The goal is to rationalize existing reports, structures & procedures and support the creation of a centralized reporting hub using tableau desktop and tableau server. This requires the definition of best practices for data visualization and storytelling (standards, templates and guidelines), assistance and training (open hours, how to’s, etc.) as well as performance management (definition of technical setup between databases, reporting hub and individual needs of members).

Responsibilities:• BI Transformation: standardize use of Tableau across the enterprise and accelerate transition of current reporting (e.g. excel and power point) to automated, online Tableau dashboards• Tableau performance management: work with internal tech support team to guarantee operability of tableau and ideal user experience incl. technical setup, testing, tuning, benchmarking, stability, speed & responsiveness• Tableau adoption: work with business teams to a.) create inventory of existing reports and b.) rationalize existing reports and migrate into automated reports using tableau based on prioritized portfolio• Support vision of centralized tableau reporting hub for entire enterprise by departments incl. landing page, roles & rights, user & performance tracking• Help create & build: meaningful and impactful visualizations inspiring teams across the organization incl. templates, POCs, standardization• Assist: support onboarding of users to Tableau by providing assistance in ad-hoc questions, training, sharing of best practice, teaching and mentoring• Inform: aware of latest Tableau feature development and roadmap (what is new, when will it be released, what is the benefit) and other best in market solutions; timely devise version upgrade strategy for internal IT team• Lead and participate: be the tableau advocate for external function: support local Tableau User Group (TUG) for northern Virginia by leading, participating, demonstrating and internalizing trends and benefits; internal: formalize & support internal tableau user group and translate external learnings & findings into internal benefits• Benchmark BI tools and inform strategic roadmap for BI investment and maintenance of enterprise• Endorse and Evangelize: the power of data story telling through visualization• Enhance: business decision making via data visualization and innovative illustration of challenges, business opportunities and viewpoints• Assist team members of Data & Analytics team to visualize their data assets and storytelling• Endorse proper terminology and literacy regarding dashboard conception, design, testing, QA, production and ready for use across user base• Actively involve and leverage other team members of the Data & Analytics team to assist with deliverables and responsibilities

Qualifications:• B.S. in Computer Science, a quantitative discipline or a discipline that fosters structured problem solving and creativity• Extensive experience and knowledge/certification in following technologies:• Development, maintenance and management Tableau driven dashboards and analytics,• Tableau administration and architecture• Tableau performance optimization & tuning• Extensive tableau skills incl. visualization, sharing, communicating and training users• Full product knowledge of tableau suite (how to use and adopt, how to integrate, optimize and tune): tableau desktop, tableau server, tableau prep, connecting sources such as SQL, Hadoop, traditional structured warehouse technology (e.g. oracle), data prep including cleansing, standardization and mapping• Member of tableau user groups, certifications in data visualization, experience with Informatica AXON & Enterprise data catalogue (desired)
