Substance Use Disorder Counselor - CSAC QMHP-AThe Hampton Roads Clinic (HRC) offers a unique and specialized program for adults with a long history of dependence on opiates such as prescription pain medications, heroin, and morphine. At HRC, we provide comprehensive outpatient treatment and recovery services for individuals with an opioid use diagnosis using methadone prescribed by a licensed physician. In addition to offering the evidence-based medication methadone, we provide a continuum of psycho-social services to include counseling, peer support, care coordination, and referrals to other social support services.The Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board seeks a passionate and experienced Substance Use Disorder Counselor (with CSAC and QMHP-A) to join our dynamic team. The Substance Use Disorder Counselor will play a pivotal role in our clients' recovery journeys, providing support, guidance, and therapy to individuals and families affected by substance use disorders.Key Responsibilities:

Conduct assessments to determine the severity of substance use disorders and develop individualized treatment plans.

Provide counseling and therapy to clients, employing evidence-based interventions to promote recovery.

Offer support and education to clients' families to help them understand and cope with the challenges of substance use disorders.

Maintain accurate and confidential client records, treatment plans, and progress notes.

Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, nurses, and social workers, to ensure comprehensive care.

Stay up-to-date with the latest research and developments in substance use disorder treatments.

Participate in ongoing training and supervision to enhance counseling skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Human Services, such as Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling, and one (1) year of related substance use disorder experience.

Must be registered as a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) with the Virginia Board of Counseling OR register to receive CSAC Supervision approval within 60 days of employment. A CSAC Supervisor will be provided.

Must be registered with the Board of Counseling to practice as a QMHP-A OR register as a QMHP trainee within 30 days of employment.

The work schedule is Monday - Friday, but hours may include early morning.The selected candidate must successfully pass a criminal history fingerprint background investigation, DMV record check, Child Registry search, drug screening test and employment reference checks.For more information, or to apply now, you must go to the website below.
