Review the position below and apply today.Job SummaryDominion Energy is seeking multiple summer 2025 graduate-level interns to be a part of the Electric Transmission Planning Team located our our Innsbrook office in Glen Allen, VA. This position will provide technical support to the transmission planners and will report to one of two teams: Regional & Near-Term (Area) Planning or Regional & Long-Term Planning. Candidates should have a strong electrical engineering background and possess strong knowledge of engineering principles and practices, preferably in electric power systems. A working knowledge of analysis software packages such as PSSE, Python, Power Gem’s TARA software, Aspen One-Liner, etc., is also preferred.Responsibilities include:

Power system modeling and analysis: Steady state and dynamic power flow analysis

Assisting in the development, maintenance, and enhancement of computer-based tools for the Electric Transmission Planning team

Data mining and data analytics

Power system network model validation, merging, and management. Development of detailed substation models

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

General understanding of AC/DC fundamentals, including an understanding of three-phase power systems

General knowledge and understanding of substation components and their functions

Ability to read and interpret substation and transmission operating one-line diagrams, and relay functional drawings

General understanding of the protection principles and practices for transmission lines, distribution feeders, and major substation equipment

A working knowledge of analysis software packages such as PSSE, Python, Power Gem’s TARA software, Aspen One-Liner, etc., is preferred

Self-motivator who has the ability to work cooperatively in a team environment, but is comfortable independently seeking knowledge and information

Must have earned a bachelor’s degree in an engineering field and be accepted to and working on a Ph.D. degree in engineering (preferred fields include electrical engineering with a concentration in power systems, computer engineering, or mechanical engineering with a focus on energy systems) from an ABET accredited Engineering program at a four year or post-graduate college or university.

Education Requirements

Must have earned a bachelor’s degree in an engineering field and be accepted to and working on a Ph.D. degree in engineering (preferred fields include electrical engineering with a concentration in power systems, computer engineering, or mechanical engineering with a focus on energy systems) from an ABET accredited Engineering program at a four year or post-graduate college or university.

Candidates must have a 3.2 minimum GPA.

Students must have a graduation date of Winter 2025 or later
