Seeking a travel nurse, medical professional, medical student, or someone with experience in caregiving to live in a beautiful basement apartment on a lake in a quiet neighborhood.
My mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2022. We are looking for a tenant to help her with some basic needs four to six hours. As of now, she only needs some assistance, but will increase to four as Alzheimer’s progresses.
If you are a good fit and interested in more hours, we have been approved to hire someone through an agency such as Comfort Keepers.
At this point, she can operate fairly well on her own, and only needs help with some basic tasks. She can shower on her own, cook breakfast, walk her dog, and more, but needs reminders and someone to ensure she is doing these responsibilities.
She is very friendly, upbeat, and has a great attitude! She has a good friend down the street whom she spends a lot of time with and has family in Richmond and northern Virginia who visit often.
Responsibilities include the following:
- Making sure she eats breakfast and dinner
- Cooking meals
- Making sure she completes her daily checklist, such as showering, brushing her teeth, walking/feeding her dog,
- Medication management
- Keeping her company/going on walks with her
- Cleaning the house as needed
- Transportation to doctor's appointments and the grocery store
- Meal prepping
The apartment is in the basement in a lovely home in an established and quiet neighborhood two miles from downtown Fredericksburg. There is a beautiful view of the lake that you would have access to and are welcome to use our canoe. It’s an excellent neighborhood for walking with friendly neighbors! Owner of the home has one dog. Will consider a tenant with one pet if it’s a great fit. Lots of closet and storage space!
There is a full bathroom but the kitchen area is limited to a sink, full-size refrigerator, and small cabinet. Previous tenants have used portable electric burners, instant pots, air fryers, and more.
Monthly price includes use of laundry upstairs, limited use of full kitchen upstairs, utilities, and Wi-Fi. Payment due every first of the month. $200 security deposit due before move/in. No smokers or parties.
