The CAN/PCA is responsible for assisting patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), providing personal care, and offering emotional and physical support under the supervision of medical staff. The role is essential in promoting patient comfort, health, and well-being, ensuring that care standards and protocols are followed.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist patients with bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.

Help patients with eating and feeding when necessary.

Provide oral care and assist with other hygiene needs.

Monitoring Patient Vital Signs:

Take and record vital signs such as temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.

Report any significant changes to the nursing team.

Mobility Assistance:

Help patients with moving, walking, and positioning (transferring from bed to wheelchair, etc.).

Assist with physical therapy exercises as directed.

Emotional and Social Support:

Help maintain a clean and safe environment for patients (changing bed linens, tidying patient rooms).

Ensure that patient equipment is clean and properly maintained.

Qualifications:

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Certification or equivalent.

Personal Care Assistant (PCA) training (if applicable in the region).

CPR and First Aid certification (depending on the employer or location).

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Compassionate, patient, and dependable.

Experience:

Previous experience in a healthcare setting (such as home care, nursing home, or hospital) is preferred.

Experience working with elderly or disabled individuals is a plus.
