This team works in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, with engineering, migration, and operations. We’re looking for self-starter senior Linux system administrators, to work both as part of the team and on individual assignments, in an environment of customer mission delivery, integrity and communications. We’re looking to fill this role with someone who currently has the cloud experience, certifications, and skills to execute in large environments, are flexible and enjoy tackling challenges, and desire to join a large team that is building and sustaining a large multi-tenant cloud platform/enterprise and migrating/expanding/automating the enterprise. Administrating and life-cycle management of a complex environment.

Maintains the integrity and security of systems.

As required, virtually supports users (other engineers, app developers, etc.) with completing requests for deployment of new services or addressing current service interruption.

Maintains system documentation.

Patching of servers and systems.

Schedules and delivers backups, file restores and disaster recovery.

Supports and develops automation.

May program in an administrative language such as Bash, PowerShell, Python.

Develops and implements testing strategies and document results.

Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.

Participates in special projects as required.

Adheres to the principles, methods, and techniques used in system and network administration and support.

Maintains/enhances knowledge of related AWS cloud services.

May require professional certification in one or more specific technologies, depending on job assignment.

May be required to work outside of “normal” work hours to include weekends and holidays.

Independently provides advance level technical interpretation and solutions in the management of data availability, durability, and protection.

Troubleshoots access policies that are moderate to high complexity in scope.

Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels.

Applies practical knowledge of job area typically obtained through work experience continuous learning

Work across teams, and external customer groups to develop strategy, design solutions, and advise implementation teams during deployment.

Deal with escalations. Make assessments, recommendations or provide solutions to resolve issues.

Experience leveraging cost optimization and cloud elasticity

Experience working with infrastructure as code for provisioning and managing cloud resources.

Assist decision makers with budget forecasting for workload data/resources

Write and maintain standard operating procedures and work instructions, knowledge articles, etc.

Required skills and experience:

BA/BS (or equivalent experience), 5+ years of experience (Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related area is preferred)

Experience with Cloud Computing, active cloud certification in AWS

Must be able to pass an EPA agency background check

Experience with Continuous Integration and Deployment, preferably Jenkins

Experience managing, maintaining, and securing Java Application Servers

Experience with SSO Implementation and support.

Excellent communication skills with demonstrated experience delivering presentations to diverse audiences at various levels of an organization

A strong understanding of business processes and expertise in managing operations following the ITIL processes

​Desired skills and experience:

Experience with Linux, Red Hat and other systems

Experience with Docker / AWS Containerization.

Experience with Redis / Memcache

Experience with AWS autoscaling

Skills and Attributes:
