KHC Stable Manager
Job Description
The Stable Manager’s primary responsibility includes the daily maintenance, care and training of the KHC staff horses in a professional, ongoing manner with little supervision. During Hunting season, the Stable Manager shall prepare the horses for the day’s hunt and care for them thereafter.
As compensation, in addition to salary, a stall in the KHC barn is offered for the Stable Manager’s use (So long as one is available). The Stable Manager will pay for grain, hay & bedding, when in use, at a rate of $100.00 per week to KHC. This amount is subject to change based on usage and price fluctuations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Communicate regularly with the Huntsman and MFH regarding staff horse condition.
· Work with other KHC staff to ensure the Stables are kept tidy and in a state of good repair.
· Manage an exercise and nutrition program for horses based on needs and time of year.
· Maintain communication with Vet, Farrier and other support staff on horse maintenance.
· Maintain and clean tack and other horse training equipment as well as ensuring proper fit.
· Ensuring horse(s) are clean and properly turned out for Hunting mornings on time.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
· Knowledge of Stable management.
· Riding ability – confidence riding a variety of horses including over fixed obstacles.
· Detail oriented and able to work in a team environment.
· Excellent organizational skills.
Education and Experience:
· High School diploma or equivalent
