Occupational Therapist (OT) - Clin 1

An OT1 is an entry level occupational therapist who may be a new graduate or new to a medical setting. An OT1 provides safe and competent patient care at a basic level and shows growth in ability to care for increasingly complex patients. A therapist at this level requires consultation with more experienced clinicians and benefits from feedback regarding complex patient problems and coordination of care with the other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team. The OT1 is focused primarily on mastering general knowledge and skills. This therapist understands the OT’s role on the interdisciplinary team and is beginning to participate as a member. The OT1 may provide mentoring and guidance to support and other staff pending approval by his or her supervisor.

Performs occupational therapy evaluations according to professional standards and departmental guidelines.

Demonstrates knowledge of intervention options and executes a program of skilled occupational therapy intervention.

Actively participates in professional growth of self and others.

Actively participates in quality improvement and program development.

In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Position Compensation Range: -MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSEducation: Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational TherapyExperience: No experience requiredLicensure: Licensed to practice in Occupational Therapy in the Commonwealth of Virginia. New grads must be licensed within 6 months of hire. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.PHYSICAL DEMANDSJob requires frequently bending/stooping/traveling (distance: ½ mile). Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 – 50lbs.
