Job Title: Mechanical EngineerJob DescriptionSeeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer. The design engineer will perform facility design and facilities consulting services for a diverse client base of federal government clients, including the Department of Defense. This position is fully remote, although proximity to Washington, DC is preferred. Alternative work schedules may be considered.Responsibilities:

Perform site visits to analyze existing conditions, identify stakeholder concerns, and develop engineering recommendations for new or renovated facilities

Prepare facility design packages for a wide range of facilities, including industrial, administrative, storage, and support facilities

Prepare all designs in accordance with relevant local, state, and federal codes and standards

Prepare technical memoranda/reports that summarize information, such as engineering recommendations, conceptual plans, or other technical documentation

Collaborate and communicate effectively with other stakeholders internal and external to the design team (e.g., engineering and manufacturing departments)

Opportunity to manage projects if you have relevant skills and desire (not required – staff with 100% technical focus are also needed)

Hard Skills

Plan, implement, or monitor preventative maintenance programs (e.g., inspections, testing, and maintenance) that comply with federal and local requirements and industry codes, standards, and guidelines

Provide engineering support toward documenting and/or troubleshooting operational issues with mechanical equipment

Identify and work to proactively resolve any compliance issues

Identify and document potential capital improvement projects necessary to improve operations by conducting site visits to document existing conditions, developing new requirements based on planned use, and creating preliminary scopes or budgetary cost estimates

Perform mechanical design reviews for facility improvement projects provided by third-party or in-house design efforts

Assess compliance of design packages with applicable Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), codes, and regulations as well as end-user requirements
