Job Title: Building EngineerJob DescriptionThe primary role of a Building Engineer is to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility equipment across all systems. This position requires technical expertise in one craft area, such as Electrical, HVAC, Piping/Plumbing, or Central Utility Plant Operations, while being multi-skilled in other areas to successfully complete daily and weekly work assignments.Responsibilities
Perform maintenance, monitoring, and repairs to the mechanical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire life safety, and control systems to keep facility and building systems up to applicable standards.
Maintain responsibility for facility services, preventative maintenance, purchasing and inventory control, contracted maintenance, general maintenance, and technical proficiency.
Clean, inspect, calibrate, and change parts to maintain HVAC systems and associated equipment at optimum performance levels.
Record readings and make necessary adjustments to ensure proper operation of equipment.
Comply with departmental policies for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials, and maintain a clean and safe workplace.
Perform periodic checks of tool and instrument inventory.
Monitor the quality and pricing of maintenance work performed by outside contractors.
Comply with all safety procedures, maintain good housekeeping, and ensure the safety of work areas. Recognize dangers and safety hazards and propose methods to eliminate them.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
8-10 years of experience required.
Experience in maintaining and repairing commercial building systems.
Ability to analyze the operation of various Commercial or Industrial Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and HVAC systems, determine the cause of any problems/malfunctions, and take corrective action.
EPA 608 Type II Certification.
Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel.
EPA 608 Universal Certification (preferred).
Two years of trades schooling in electrical system design, refrigeration, and HVAC (preferred).
