What are we looking for?The Technical Writer shall assist in the development of internal and external CDRH/OM Project Management Support communications, internal policy documentation, contract and/or various administrative requirements development for a broad portfolio of initiatives. This includes providing technical requirement’s gathering and writing, analysis and support to FDA/CDRH in the development of acquisition packages or other projects, as directed. Fun stuff you will do on the job:

Provide guidance, and assistance, to include drafting documents and or fully completing documents, for the preparation/finalization of a broad range of initiatives.

Coordinate with subject matter experts or other CDRH staff in the creation of acquisition supporting documents via information/requirements gathering with various CDRH staffers.

Draft and revise documents that embody scientific, medical or engineering terminology for various target audiences.

Assist in the review of acquisition packages or other acquisition related documents prior to submission to the FDA acquisition office or other organizations as required.

Perform research to develop authoritative information to reflect in materials and projects covering topics pertaining to the OM/DA mission, functions, goals, programs, priorities, activities, accomplishments, interaction with other CDRH and FDA components, other federal agencies requiring a response, and possible external customers.

Develop networks and building alliances, collaborating across boundaries, and finding common ground with a wide range of stakeholders and subject matter experts.

Assist with identifying and resolving challenging issues related to written correspondence and various methods to provide written communications to OM, DAS or other CDRH personnel.

Assist CDRH DAS staff in answering questions and/or training for COR and/or programmatic staff on writing SOW’s, current procurement laws, regulations, and policies.

Provide assistance with research, reviewing policy and as required writing of follow-on Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) or other internal CDRH Policy as required.

Provide written minutes or other administrative support as required.

Support any other tasks assigned by Task Order PM and/or designer.

Must have or be able to obtain a Public Trust

Must have a minimum of three years of experience managing multiple technical writing assignments concurrently.

Demonstrate effective time management

Strong attention to detail, self-starter, quick and critical thinking, and problem-solving skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Strong customer service skills

High level of professionalism, diplomacy, and patience

Ability to multitask efficiently and effectively

Able to work independently and with teams

Demonstrated knowledge of project management methodologies, and experience using these methodologies to implement projects within a federal government environment

Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint Online and Communication/Collaboration Tools

Currently due to the remote working status of the federal government, most DRT employees are teleworking from home and leveraging video conferencing along with other virtual productivity tools. Under normal circumstances, most of our positions are required to report onsite. However, DRT has not yet determined when employees will be required to return to their onsite workspaces. Please be aware that at the time a date is determined to return to the worksite, the requirement of this position may be to report in person to the work location.
