Description Our client, a rapidly growing, private equity backed contractor is recruiting for a Staff Accountant to join their talented team. This is a ground floor opportunity for a resourceful Staff Accountant to take their career to the next level quickly with a great amount of career runway as this company rapidly builds their finance team and overall infrastructure. This new Staff Accountant position will report to a talented Accounting Manager and will benefit from mentorship and hands on leadership from several experienced team members.​As a Staff Accountant, you will be in charge of preparing journal entries, assist with monthly and year-end closings, prepare bank reconciliations, conduct fixed asset maintenance and prepare general ledger reconciliations. Throughout the monthly close, you will also support various aspects of financial reporting. Also, you will participate in compliance for the external auditors and prepare audit schedules to support the team. Based in the Arlington, Virginia area, this role is a career-building, multi-faceted opportunity to work for a company that recognizes and rewards hard work.​Notable duties will include:​

Preparation of month end balance sheet account reconciliations

Produce journal entries and account reconciliations which include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and fixed assets

Produce analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for reporting by management

Ad hoc reporting and special projects, when requested

Assist with the month end, quarter end and year end closing process by preparing monthly financial close workbooks

Organize and review a variety of financial data, reporting it in a way that is useful and understandable

Prepare schedules for depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and associated reconciliations

​Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or related field

CPA candidate is a plus

1-2 or more years of experience in accounting with core GAAP skills

Experience with a large ERP system such as Oracle/SAP/JDE is desired

Prior experience within a public accounting firm is a plus
