Software System Safety Engineer, SeniorThe Challenge:Are you looking for an opportunity to combine your technical skills with big picture thinking to make an impact in software system safety? Our team supports senior-level DoD and Service representatives on software system safety implementation and oversight for DoD weapon system acquisition programs. Leverage your specialized knowledge and expertise in embedded, real-time safety critical software, including applying scientific and engineering principles, criteria, and techniques to identify and assess a software's contribution to safety hazards, and inform the implementation of mitigations to reduce warfighter risk.As a systems engineer on our team, you'll enjoy a dynamic team environment of client and contract staff while executing comprehensive software system safety programs or individual tasks, including plans, analyses, assessments, and evaluations. You'll analyze data, develop written deliverables, assist with the presentation of results, and assist with the review of client software system safety documents to verify compliance with requirements, policy, and guidance documents. You'll conduct tasks in accordance with established plans and quality standards, but will have the freedom to improve processes and advance the discipline of software system safety. This position is a hybrid role with a combination of working at a Booz Allen office or client site and working remotely.You Have:- 5+ years of experience with developing complex systems, including developing and debugging multi-threaded or real-time embedded software
- 3+ years of experience with software system safety implementation in compliance with MIL-STD-882E, DoD Standard Practice for System Safety
- Experience with using software development environments and tools, including Eclipse, Microsoft Visual Studio, or Rational Software
- Experience with FPGAs, PLDs, or firmware development
- Experience with operating systems and compiler technology
- Secret clearance
- Bachelor's degree in CS, EE, Engineering, or Software Engineering
- Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
- Master's degree in CS, EE, Engineering, or Software Engineering preferred
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Navy Principal for Safety (PFS), or Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) Certification preferred
