DescriptionAmazon’s Legal Department is looking for a seasoned attorney with experience in corporate anti-corruption compliance programs to join its Business Conduct & Ethics team.We're looking for someone that can help build and enhance our company-wide compliance program while providing guidance and legal advice to senior leaders across Amazon's offices in the US and Canada. The attorney will also and have some oversight on the global proactive compliance aspects of our entire program. The attorney must be experienced advising on legal issues related to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and related laws. The right person will be able to provide practical advice for business leaders and exhibit excellent judgment and counseling when assessing risk. To be successful, it is imperative that the hire learn and understand the various aspects of the business, understand how to mitigate the identified risks, and enable the business to move quickly. The attorney must have the ability to be a calming influence during difficult circumstances. Strong communication skills are critical. It is imperative that the attorney demonstrate excellent judgment when dealing with sensitive matters.Key job responsibilitiesThis Associate Corporate Counsel role will be responsible for:

Contributing to our team's anti-corruption compliance program in the US and Canada.

Contributing to aspects of our global proactive program, including conflict of interest reporting, gift reporting, third-party due diligence, and training/communications.

Advising senior leaders at Amazon on matters relating to Amazon's Code of Business Conduct & Ethics and anti-corruption risk mitigation.

The ideal candidate must be a strong communicator adept at working with multiple stakeholders to navigate complex matters and deliver results. You must be able to prioritize, multi-task, meet deadlines, and maintain flexibility in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and changing environment.About the teamAmazon's Business Conduct and Ethics Team is a global department within Amazon's Legal org that supports Amazon’s anti-corruption compliance program. We own and support compliance investigations, the Amazon Ethics Line, the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, and more. Amazon has a culture that is fully committed to ethics and compliance. 5+ years of legal experience

Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent

Experience in private practice or in house experience at a technology company or equivalent

Experience managing multiple projects and meeting aggressive deadlines

Anti-corruption compliance experience including Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) counseling and defense.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work

Experience in web services/cloud computing, software licensing, telecommunications or equivalent

Knowledge of IT infrastructure, outsourcing, telecommunications, cloud computing services or equivalent

Highest standards of ethics, professional integrity, and discretion
