Then this opportunity for you!Serco is seeking an enthusiastic Junior Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic Maritime Engineering Operation (MEO) and support the design of ships and ship systems at our Alexandria, Virginia location. In your role, you will utilize a variety of different tools and software programs to perform analyses and design studies involving integrated power systems, diesel generators, batteries, fuel cells, and power distribution systems. This position assists and collaborates with senior members of ourmulti-disciplinary team who work closely with customers and other Serco teams in an integrated design environment to deliver high quality designs to schedule.In this role you will:
Work on the electrical design of vessels for Federal and commercial customers through various phases of ship design from concept to detailed design.
Assist in the design, development, and evaluation design components related to the electric propulsion systems, propulsion and machinery control systems, power generation and distribution systems, various auxiliary electrical systems, and related equipment of marine vessels – design components such as electric plant load analysis; fault current calculations; circuit breaker coordination studies; transient stability analysis; various electrical diagrams including power, lighting, communications; electrical system and equipment specifications for ship new construction, modification, and/or repair.
Apply principles and techniques of electrical engineering concepts, practices, and procedures within the power system and power electronics fields to accomplish design goals.
Aid the preparation of reports to describe analysis and design efforts, including summarizing results of simulations and design efforts
Report to a supervisor or manager who will provide guidance and task direction.
QualificationsTo be successful in this role, you must have:
A Bachelor’s degreein Electrical Engineering, Marine Engineering, orrelated field
0-2 years of experience in a related field.
Ability to obtain a security clearance.
Demonstrated experience collaborating in a team environment.
10% travel required
