The MEA serves as a resource to SHRM volunteer leaders, members, chapters, state councils, students, and other affiliates.The MEA serves a key role in the Membership Division in supporting overall chapter, state council, and volunteer leader engagement and compliance, and is one of the primary contacts of SHRM to members, students, and volunteers. The MEA has a presence at national, regional, and local meetings and conferences and communicates the SHRM message to members and potential members. The position certifies affiliate compliance with governance structure, audits, and multi-million-dollar financial support payments. The MEA maximizes efficiencies to ensure strong and vibrant professional, student chapters, and state councils, and acts as key enabler for membership.Responsibilities:

Establishes, maintains, and strengthens relationships with SHRM volunteer leaders, members, chapters, state councils, students, prospective members and others to achieve SHRM’s strategy and objectives regarding membership. This includes proposing and executing ideas, initiatives and programs focused on growing membership acquisition and retention.

Serves as the key contact and liaison in the Membership Department for providing timely and accurate information, guidance and support to our volunteer leaders, professional and student members, prospective members, staff and others on various membership activities, governance and compliance initiatives, affiliate support activities and projects.

Participates and supports key task forces, special projects and Tiger Team activities.

Prepares, analyzes, and distributes reports including monthly and quarterly membership data to support affiliate and staff analysis of membership acquisition and retention trends, chapter metrics, and other key SHRM initiatives. Partners with the Field Service Directors to provide the needed volunteer leader support to grow & develop our chapters and state councils.

Ensures practices are customer-centric and focused on developing and enhancing the member experience while adhering to established policies.

Represents SHRM at national, state, chapter, student and other conferences and presents to these audiences.

Manages, maintains and updates the official record for professional and student chapters, state councils, their volunteers and members. This includes administering chapter and state council affiliation requirements and compliance programs.

Manages the annual professional and student chapter audit process, to determine affiliates in good standing and the award recognition program (SHAPE, CLIF, EXCEL, etc.). This includes managing the process to determine chapters eligible for financial support from SHRM, those eligible for professional and student chapter recognition programs and award process.

Working with the manager over Membership Engagement, coordinates e-mail blast requests and other communication requests from chapters and state councils and executes those requests.

Prepares and fulfills materials/exhibit displays for volunteer leader events to ensure promotion of membership, certification and other strategic priorities.

Education & Experience Requirements

Requires up to two years of experience in customer focused or similar roles with High School diploma or equivalent. Associate or bachelor’s degree may also be substituted for the experience requirements of the position.

Preferred experience working with professional associations or in community outreach/engagement roles, project administration, volunteer leadership, and maintaining customer databases (CRM softwares).

Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, including experience in giving public presentations or speaking activities.

Able to analyze data and provide keen insights

Excellent member and customer service focus with the ability to influence and/or persuade stakeholders. Must be diplomatic, team-oriented and sensitive to the needs of members and staff to work across a large organization, secure resources, build relationships and identify opportunities is essential.

Creative approaches to problem solving. Ability to simultaneously coordinate and prioritize a variety of projects and work within activity program deadlines is needed.

Ability to maintain good judgement and tact, as well as perform duties in a confidential manner.

Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment as well as an independent contributor and successfully and timely deliver to internal and external customers at all levels.

Must be capable of working across multiple time zones.

Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite, Excel in particular, and familiar with SalesForce or NetSuite or similar CRM software.

Work environmentWork is regularly performed in a combination of office and conference settings and routinely uses standard office equipment.The hiring range for this position is $27.00 to $31.00/hourly This range is an estimate and the actual salary may vary based on the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications.
