Summary of Role\: GlobalFoundries has a 2022 Internship Position available at the Essex, VT site for a Electrical / Instrumentation and Controls Engineer intern. As a member of the facilities staff you will be working on improving the reliability and monitoring capabilities of critical site infrastructure. Successful candidates will be comfortable leading improvement projects and working on a diverse team in a production environment. They will work in a dynamic collaborative environment requiring strong teaming skills with engineers, managers, technicians and manufacturing partners. Essential Responsibilities include\:
- Participation in strategic direction of the High Voltage/Instrumentation and Controls team, systems set-up, configuration and controls, business process improvements and implementation
- Perform project planning, technical analysis and evaluation of options and alternatives, and engineering design activities for assigned buildings or electrical systems; assignments will include building electrical system engineering, capital upgrade evaluations and planning, and expense projects.
- Develop and evaluate system metrics, reporting and utilize for continuous improvement
- Develop procedures and training requirements for technicians and other keys system users
- Perform operational systems tests and fault diagnostics to identify and correct electrical, pneumatic and electric analog and computer system failures.
- Employ computer system diagnostic programs, computer control console switches and indicators, and logic analyzers to locate and replace defective circuit boards and modules in computers and computer peripherals and repairs digital interfaces.
- Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.
- BS Student enrolled in an accredited engineering program
- Mechanical, Electrical, Software or Computer Engineering
- Previous work with Controls and programming experience
- Knowledge and /or ability to learn AutoCad
- Excellent academic standing
- Strong written and oral communications skills
- Attention to detail
- Self-motivated; able to take ownership of assignments, develop work plans and proactively seek feedback to ensure objectives are aligned and met
- Team player; able to succeed in a dynamic, fast paced environment
