Shelterwood Construction is a high performance homebuilder, based in the Mad River Valley. We specialize in building net zero, energy efficient, architect designed custom homes. We are a recognized leader in our field and we are growing. We are looking for a lead carpenter to lead a dedicated crew.
The ideal candidate has 8+ years of high-end carpentry experience and experience leading a crew and managing sub-contractors.
Essential Qualifications
A lead carpenter at Shelterwood must possess, at minimum, the following qualifications:
-familiarity with the residential building process from start to finish
-expertise in all aspects of layout, framing through finish work
-ability to teach both hard skills and soft skills
-working knowledge of building science and the desire to learn more
-ability to work with others from all backgrounds and to lead by example
-pride in what you do and commitment to a career in carpentry
-a desire to show off your craft while being efficient in your workflow as well as motivating team members
-initiative to make this world a more beautiful and sustainable place through the art of homebuilding

We take on projects within one hour of Waitsfield, mainly from Stowe to Warren. We offer excellent compensation and benefits and a great working environment. This is a full time year round position for someone who will grow with the company.
