Site Lead
Role Qualities

The Site Lead role requires strong organizational skills and the ability to be both an advocate and facilitator for the client, the project, and the crew. Role Summary
The goal of the Site Lead is to oversee and facilitate the successful execution of construction projects from start to finish. This role manages the work of journey-level carpenters and apprentices, coordinates with the project team, subcontractors, and acts as the primary point of contact for the client during the build phase. This position is 90% ‘belt-on’ role, with 10% dedicated to belt-off tasks such as project meetings, subcontractor coordination, and interfacing with clients.
Principal Duties
Safety:
Maintain a safe and organized jobsite.
Execute and enforce safety and mobilization plans.
Perform daily inspections of site safety conditions and equipment.
Communicate new/discovered hazards and make a plan before proceeding.
Apply personal knowledge of safety standards to the work at hand, and escalate questions or concerns.
Execution & Planning:
Understand the production goals and work to meet them.
Reset expectations proactively as needed.
Logistics:
Ensure the site has what it needs to efficiently work towards production goals.
Proactively identify material, tool, and staffing needs.
Make a plan to secure what is needed or elevate the need.
Communicate and collaborate to effectively use shared resources.
Collaborate with subs on-site.
Communication
Ensure daily updates are being delivered to the team
Check-in with the client (if they are present), ideally at the end of the day and communicate what to generally expect for the next day.
Core responsibilities
Collaborate with the project team to set goals and work with the crew to achieve them.
Understand major milestones and overall project timelines and provide input on feasibility and resources needed to achieve outcomes.
Provide direction on means and methods as well as QC on LCB and subcontractor work.
Develop materials lists and take-offs.
Communicate with clients proactively to keep them current on progress and expectations, get input/approval on outcomes and ensure that necessary updates or questions are being communicated to the client when they are not present onsite (i.e. pass along questions or requests for input to the project team).
Understand project scope and details through budgets, drawings, and onboardings.
Elevate questions or discrepancies as they arise during a project.
Elevate anything that may warrant a CO.
Communicate any relevant project details to the project team, including client and subcontractor communication.
Target efficiency and quality across our build team by mentoring, correcting and encouraging crew members.
Elevate any interpersonal or performance issues among team members.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated skills in managing client expectations and serving client goals.
Strong knowledge of the tools, equipment, and materials common to the trade.
Strong knowledge of common codes, standards, and regulations.
Understanding of basic structural loads and considerations related to walls, loads and footings.
Skill in installation, repair, and maintenance of all systems and assignments common to all aspects of carpentry in residential construction and remodeling.
Familiarity with estimating time and material requirements for projects in all aspects of carpentry in residential construction and remodeling.
Experience managing others in either/both a direct site management role or a project management role.
Strong organizational skills and excellent communication skills.
Desire to grow in knowledge of the trade including new techniques in green building, passive home construction, and all associated materials in an ever-changing industry.
Qualifications
8+ years of carpentry experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education deemed appropriate by hiring managers. Must have a clean driving record and reliable transportation.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods standing, climbing, bending, and kneeling.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
Must be able to safely work with sharp tools and power equipment.
Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and terrains.
Must have manual dexterity, a good sense of balance, and good hand-eye coordination.
Compensation
Position is an hourly full-time position at a pay rate of $30-$38.00 per hour. Actual compensation varies based on qualifications, skills, success and experience of the candidate.
