Role Summary

Participates at a skilled-level in the construction, installation, repair, maintenance, and inspection of all elements of residential carpentry including framing, sheathing, wall assemblies, floor assemblies, roof assemblies, demolition, drywall installation and repair, and all aspects of finish carpentry. This position reports to the Lead Carpenter(s) and Build Manager.

Principal Duties

Participates in all rough framing cut, fasten and assembly activities and the myriad materials and fasteners involved in the completion of this work.

Participates in all sheathing and exterior assembly finish work including trim, siding, window and door installation and the myriad materials and fasteners involved in the completion of this work.

Participates in all relevant carpentry work associated with roughing –in interior living, shop and garage spaces. Includes partition walls, doors, trim, occasional gypsum board installation and coating, decorative moldings, and all detailing related to Kitchen installation and finishing.

Participates in all relevant custom cabinetry construction that the company performs through its custom cabinetry offerings

Participates in all relevant and applicable insulation measures including cellulose, rigid foam, fiberglass, and spray foam insulations.

Participates in all aspects of site maintenance and cleaning duties including daily tool set-up and storage.

Participates in other installation maintenance, and repair duties related to the carpentry trade.

In collaboration with Lead Carpenter or Site Supervisor participates in the set-up and tear down of all staging equipment required of any particular residential site.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Strong knowledge of the tools, equipment, and materials common to the trade.

Strong knowledge of common codes, standards, and regulations.

Understanding of basic structural engineering considerations related to walls, loads and footings.

Skill in installation, repair, and maintenance of all systems and assignments common to all aspects of carpentry in residential construction and remodeling.

Demonstrated desire to grow in knowledge of the trade including new techniques in green building, passive home construction and all associated materials in an ever-changing industry.

Qualifications

3+ years of carpentry experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education deemed appropriate by the hiring manager. Must have a clean driving record and reliable transportation.

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods standing, climbing, bending, and kneeling.

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.

Must be able to safely work with sharp tools and power equipment.

Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and terrains.

Must have manual dexterity, a good sense of balance, and good hand-eye coordination.

Compensation

Position is an hourly full-time position with a pay rate of $25.00 - $35.00 per hour. Actual compensation varies based on qualifications, skills, success and experience of the candidate.
