Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Assistant to join our accounting team. The ideal candidate will support the accounting department by performing various financial and administrative tasks, including processing member payments, maintaining accounts payable (A/P) invoices, reconciling daily cash and credit transaction, and assisting with other general administrative tasks as required. This role requires an understanding of basic financial and accounting concepts, proficiency in the Microsoft Suite, and experience of accounting software to ensure accurate and timely processing of financial transactions.

Duties

Collect and process club member payments in a timely and accurate manner.

Ensure processing and maintenance of monthly credit card payments for members, including tracking and reconciliation.

Perform daily reconciliation of multiple POS areas to ensure all transactions are properly recorded in the system and the bank.

Manage the preparation of bank deposits and report on bank activity regularly to the Controller.

Review and enter vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy and coordination with department management teams for payment and budgeting approvals.

Perform payment and reconciliation duties on accounts payable in a timely and organized manner.

Oversee credit card activity, ensuring timely collection of expense reports and receipts from departmental staff.

Scan and maintain paper and electronic files for members, AP, and payroll, ensuring proper filing and organization for easy access.

Requirements

Proficiency in accounting software and financial software applications.

Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills

Ability to be flexible as hours can change based on the time of year and week-to-week

Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with other departments.

A degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred but not mandatory; relevant experience will be considered.

A basic understanding of financial accounting, the Microsoft Suite, and overall math and computer skills is a must.
