The Vermont Interpreter Referral Service (VIRS) is a program that links American Sign Language Interpreters with the scheduling needs of consumers. VIRS is a program with the Vermont Center for Independent Living

The VIRS Program Specialist position provides administrative and clerical support, including the following:

Email and telephone/video phone communications with interpreters, Deaf consumers and businesses

Schedule assignments and enter data in scheduling database.

Maintenance of confidential records,

Work with the VIRS Coordinator to provide outreach and education to the Deaf community, requestors, and interpreters.¯¯

Ideal candidate must understand Deaf Culture and be fluent using ASL at or near native-user proficiency.¯¯

This 30 hour a week position in Montpelier, VT, pays $16.00/hr, and is open to the VCIL benefit package including: 14.5 paid holidays; 2 week vacation time; health insurance, 100% dental, vision, life insurance, 10 sick days after accrual; up to 3 personal days; 3 bereavement days.
