Program: Head Start

Job Title: Associate Director II Pay Grade:

Last Review Date/Update/Change of Job Description: 4/1/19

A. General Statement: The Associate Director II is responsible for monitoring the quality of service provisions of its programs and monitoring systems. The Associate Director II participates as a member of the Head Start management team and is responsible to the Head Start Director for job performance.

B. Essential Functions:

Supervise team managers (site managers)

Meet monthly in individual meetings with each team manager

Provide ongoing feedback and follow-up with team managers

Ensure team managers receive training regarding supervising, oversight, human resources, and fiscal

Ensure team managers are knowledgeable about Head Start philosophies and Program and Performance Standards

Complete annual appraisals for team managers

Oversee recruitment, hiring, orientation and retention of staff. Ensure hiring committees are properly constituted and trained.

Oversee ongoing monitoring:

Review and follow-up on quarterly monitoring.

Review and follow-up on annual monitoring.

Review and follow-up on monthly monitoring.

Participate in central office leadership meetings, management staff meetings and monthly supervision meetings with the Head Start Director. Assist the Head Start in grant preparation and completion as requested.

Participate in professional development activities including pre-service, in-service and management meetings. Promote Head Start and Capstone positively and proactively in the community and at meetings and initiatives.

C. Other Duties as Assigned

D. Qualifications:

BA in early education, related field or equivalent experience.

Expertise in supervision, evaluation and training of personnel.

Experience working in Head Start, human or community based services or related programs and demonstrated competence working with low-income people.

Familiarity with all content areas and options of Head Start.

Excellent organizational, record-keeping, verbal, and written communication skills.
