We are looking for a full-time, long term Expo to join our team! Poppy is a cafe with a small market in Burlington’s Old North End. Originally conceptualized as a sit down restaurant, we transitioned our business plan as the pandemic started. We were able to create a model that could adhere to restrictions. We decided to go with sandwiches because it was easy take-out, required a limited staff and allowed us an opportunity for creativity. Turns out, it was exactly what everyone was craving. Now, Poppy is a gathering space for the neighborhood, a go-to spot for a quality lunch, a resource and partner for community groups, and a space where people feel at home. Subject to seasonal change, Poppy offers a small menu of unique and creative options. Ultimately, we want to push the boundary of what a sandwich can be.

Job Details:

Hours: Monday - 9:00am-1:30pm (roughly) // Tuesday-Friday - 6:30am-3:00pm (roughly)

Compensation: $18-22/hr dependent on experience in addition to pooled tips (roughly every 2-3 weeks).

Experience: Food industry experience is preferred however due to the nature of this is a role we'd be happy to train the right person for the job.

Start Date: ASAP

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to;

- Morning food prep.

- Expo station prep.

- Ensuring in-person and to go orders are fulfilled on time.

- Attending and maintaining the griddle (all of our bread is toasted!)

- Flexibility to work FOH and BOH, jumping on the register, the line and on dish as needed during service.

- Closing the kitchen alongside the rest of the team.

A little about us: Poppy would not be what it is without the incredible people who work here. Making sure the team is supported and well compensated is a priority. Work life balance is extremely important to us which is why we are closed on weekends and focus solely on lunch (Tuesday-Friday). In addition to weekends off, we are periodically closed for stretches of times; sometimes it is all of January, other times it is one to two week stretches spread throughout the year depending on the team's needs and preferences.
