Sticky Fingers Bakery located in West Dover, VT is seeking a full-time experienced baker to join our team. This position requires a morning shift with a 5am start time, weekends and most holidays are required (normal operating days are Thursday through Monday until 2pm). The candidate should be experienced in production, knowledgeable (particularly with laminated dough), enthusiastic, energetic, reliable and an excellent communicator. Some team management will be part of the job duties.
We are a small but mighty crew, and we are located in a busy tourist town. We work to maintain our good and consistent reputation, and we focus on the best customer experience possible. Work is fast-paced but rewarding.
Recent graduates and bakers who are early in their career are encouraged to apply – there is a lot of opportunity to learn and for growth with us! Starting wage is based on experience, from $18-$22/hour. Employee housing is available on site.
Qualifications
Experience in bakery production required, with knowledge of pastry (laminated dough) and bread making techniques.
Ability to work mornings (and be punctual) along with weekends and holidays, per the needs of the business.
Ability to comprehend and follow recipes and scale ingredients using basic math.
Ability to multi task and work in self-sufficient manner while maintaining a team player ethic.
Ability to approach their work with a sense of ownership and work with a sense of urgency.
Ability to perform essential job functions under pressure, and maintain professionalism while working under stress.
Communicate clearly, effectively and efficiently.
Demonstrate a good attitude, positive mindset , enthusiasm, and adaptability in a fast-paced work environment.
Provide commitment to high level customer service and production of high quality products with attention to detail.
Ability to lift, push, pull and carry up to 50lbs, and climb/descend one flight of stairs on a daily basis.
Ability to work standing for a full shift and performing repetitive motions with hands, fingers and wrists.
Basic food safety knowledge required.
Responsibilities
Complete daily baking of all morning pastries by opening, while maintaining high quality standards in an efficient and timely manner.
Weigh and measure ingredients for recipes (involves heavy lifting)
Roll, knead, laminate, cut and/or shape doughs, and mix and scoop batters.
Use sheeter to laminate dough.
Use a variety of commercial kitchen tools and equipment, such as convection ovens, stand mixers, proofers, sheeters, electric scales, etc.
Glaze or ice baked goods as needed.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to sanitation regulations.
Maintain and manage bakery supply inventory and ordering.
Lead by example with a positive attitude, enthusiasm and adaptability; some management of the team will be included in duties.
