Be a part of this life-saving work and help improve patients' lives while growing your career.Position Summary:This position will be part of the R&D DNA Identification team that partakes in the development and optimization of DNA testing procedures for HLA testing and other DNA, RNA, and antibody based assays. The position will be centered around assay development, validation, implementation, and troubleshooting. This includes development of Next Generation Sequencing tests for PacBio and Illumina platforms. Other methods include, but are not limited to, Sanger sequencing, qPCR, Enzyme Immunoassay, STR, bioinformatics, and probe capture.Candidates given best consideration will have the following:

Previous research experience in molecular techniques such as DNA isolation, PCR, probe/bait capture assays, and Next Generation Sequencing.

Familiarity with validation and implementation in a CAP/CLIA Laboratory.

Experience with assay design and assay performance optimization.

Other Essential Responsibilities:

Conduct research on projects with limited oversight through the development process and transfer optimized and developed products to operations.

Write standard operating procedures and validations.

Work closely with R&D director, and other scientific staff in a team environment.

Analyze and critique results, note deviations and design relevant experiments.

Read primary scientific literature to help develop and troubleshoot experiments.

Give presentations to colleagues.

Generate reports sufficient for submission to peer-reviewed journals.

Coach and assist laboratory staff on newly developed procedures.

Education Requirements:

Requires a Bachelor of Science degree with a minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in R & D (or equivalent experience); or Master of Science degree with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in R & D (or equivalent experience).
