NW Migrant Regional Coordinator

The Regional Coordinator is a Spanish/English bilingual outreach professional who works collaboratively with colleagues in Extension’s 4-H, Family, and Migrant Programs and with community partners to connect with agricultural workers and implement educational support services in the Northwest Region of Vermont, primarily Franklin County.

Functions include interviewing workers to determine eligibility for the federal Migrant Education Program, completing enrollments, and facilitating educational services for enrolled students ages 0 to 22, utilizing judgement to prioritize work and selecting appropriate methods to respond to needs as they arise. The Regional Coordinator also organizes and facilitates parent and student events in the region.

This position functions with minimal daily supervision while working in collaboration with a statewide team of outreach professionals and program coordinators to fulfill program objectives. High School diploma and 3 years’ related experience is required. Experience with early education, K-12, and adult education is valuable, as is experience with agricultural environments and migratory populations. Applicants must be proficient in Spanish/English and demonstrate cultural humility. Strong interpersonal and communication skills for work with diverse audiences are required. Proficient computer/data entry skills are essential. The Regional Coordinator must be willing and able to travel regularly throughout the region and work a flexible schedule, which will occasionally include evenings and weekends. Home and farm visits are required; hybrid and remote agreements are possible for office work. This position is eligible for membership in the UVM Staff Union.
