Summary/Objective  Sundance is looking for a talented and enthusiastic Senior Technical Designer to join our team. Sundance is a leading omni-channel specialty retailer with headquarters located in Salt Lake City, UT. Founded in 1969 by Robert Redford, Sundance is a unique brand that supports artistic endeavors and focuses on creativity, originality, and inspiration.A Senior Technical Designer is responsible for ensuring the technical accuracy and quality of apparel designs as they transition from conceptual sketches to finalized, production-ready garments. This role requires a blend of design knowledge, garment construction expertise, and strong communication skills to collaborate with various teams (design, production, sourcing, etc.),This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth transition from design to production, maintaining the quality, fit, and functionality of the final product. A Senior Technical Designer is responsible for turning creative ideas into wearable, manufacturable garments while solving any technical challenges that arise.Key Responsibilities:Tech Pack Creation:Develop detailed tech packs, including specifications, measurements, construction details, fabric types, trims, colorways, and any other relevant information for the production team.Ensure tech packs are clear, accurate, and easily understood by manufacturers, sample makers, and production teams.Pattern and Fit Evaluation:Work closely with pattern makers to ensure the fit and construction of garments meet design specifications.Conduct fit sessions to assess prototypes, analyzing the garment's fit, construction, and overall design.Provide feedback to adjust fit, proportions, and overall garment shape.Sample Review:Review and assess prototype samples and provide feedback on design execution, quality, and functionality.Ensure samples are consistent with the initial design vision and meet quality standards.Communicate any needed revisions or adjustments to sample makers or production teams.Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:Partner with designers, pattern makers, and production teams to ensure alignment between design concepts and manufacturability.Coordinate with sourcing teams to select appropriate fabrics and materials for production.Communicate regularly with manufacturers and suppliers to ensure the production process is seamless and that any issues are resolved quickly.Material & Fabric Knowledge:Stay up to date with fabric trends, textile innovations, and new materials, and provide recommendations for use in new collections.Advise on fabric sourcing and how fabric choices may impact garment design and construction.Troubleshooting & Problem Solving:Identify and troubleshoot any technical issues related to garment construction, fit, or fabric during the sample-making process.Work to resolve production challenges, ensuring the final product is consistent with design expectations.Technical Documentation:Create and maintain accurate documentation for all design and production processes, including detailed sketches, measurement charts, and technical specifications.Update tech packs and documentation as necessary to reflect any changes or adjustments made during the sample-making process.Production Support:Provide support to production teams during garment manufacturing, ensuring the designs are being made correctly and that issues are addressed promptly.Ensure that garments meet all required quality standards, including fit, stitching, trims, and overall finish.Quality Control:Perform quality assurance checks during the production process to ensure that garments meet the desired specifications.Collaborate with the quality control team to resolve any issues related to garment production.
