Bachelor’s degree or enrolled in University of Utah undergraduate program with Biology, Biochemistry or other equivalent scientific discipline as the major.

Previous laboratory experience is highly preferred but not essential.

Demonstrated team orientation, strong organizational skills and effective communication skills.

Highly motivated toward discovery and application of findings to human health.

Working knowledge of lab procedures and/or theoretical knowledge of the basic concepts in Biology and Chemistry.

Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.

Essential Functions:

Maintains the physical environment of the lab.

Prepares facility for daily use.

May file and maintain research records and logs of research data.

May wash and clean cages, handle and treat animals, and prepare special diets for animals used in research.

The incumbent follows well-established laboratory procedures to complete work. Sensitive or unusual situations are referred to the supervisor. Work is performed under the close supervision of senior laboratory personnel.
