EO/AAThis position is responsible for performing angiography and specialized abdominal and neurovascular types of interventional radiology. Prepares patient and equipment for catheterization procedures by preparing site of entry, draping patient, arranging sterilized instruments and catheters, and calibrating and setting-up pressure transducers and tubing.

Performs specialized vascular and neuro procedures.

Selects and modifies technical factors to produce optimum diagnostic results with the least practical radiation exposure to the patient.

Assists and supports the physician during specialized vascular and neuro radiographic procedures.

Administers contrast media under direct supervision of a physician.

Assists with the department's quality control program.

Tests, monitors and maintains equipment for proper and safe operation.

Restocks supplies when time allows.

Serves on a rotational call schedule for procedures after normal hours.

Supports the Vascular OR with tech coverage.

May act as a preceptor and instruct new technologists and students.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Demonstrated potential ability to perform the essential functions as outlined above.

Ability to provide care to the population served.

Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.

Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills.

Ability to identify and solve problems effectively.

QualificationsQualifications Required

Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Current licensure to practice as a Radiologic Technologist in the State of Utah.

One of the following

ARRT Registration for Vascular Interventional Radiography R.T. (VI)(ARRT).

ARRT (CI)

One (1) year of experience in Vascular Interventional Radiology or Cardiovascular Interventional Radiology.

Qualifications (Preferred)Preferred

Six (6) months of Angiography experience.

ACLS may be required by some departments.
