Be a key team member with consult physicians, residents, and access staff.
Assess the physical condition of patients on the rehab consult service by performing physical examinations and obtaining medical histories.
Work in an interdisciplinary team environment with physicians and other team members (nursing and therapists) by developing treatment plans based on patient’s status.
Order and evaluate diagnostic tests, with the assistance of attending physicians, to identify and assess the patient’s clinical condition and related health care needs.
Initiate and/or recommend plan for transfer to rehabilitation unit, if criteria is met.
Comply with medical records policies regarding the complete and accurate documentation of patient care.
Work with hospital resources (social workers, discharge planner, etc.) in counseling patients, families and significant others about the health care continuum options and resources provided by the rehab unit.
Assist on call physician with coverage of 1-2 weekends per month.
Participates in quality improvement activities.

Current licensure to practice as a Physician’s Assistant from the State of Utah.
Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
Preferred:
Certification in ACLS / BLS / NRP / ATLS may be required by your department or by privileging criteria.
