This individual will function broadly within the specialty of Obstetrics & Gynecology, caring primarily for antepartum and postpartum patients in an inpatient environment. Will coordinate inpatient care, consultations/referrals, referring provider follow-up, and discharges. Works with attendings, residents, nurses, medical students, health care assistants and unlicensed support staff. Works closely with the inpatient healthcare team regarding patient health care plans and treatment. Orders, interprets, and evaluates labs and diagnostic tests to identify and assess the patient’s clinical problems and health care needs. Performs selected invasive procedures for therapeutic and/or diagnostic reasons within scope of validated competence. Initiates and/or recommends medical drug therapies or other forms of related therapeutic treatment and procedures in accordance with approved protocols/policy. Counsels patients, families and significant others about health and illness, and promotes health maintenance. Evaluates, plans, implements, and re-evaluates the care of individuals requiring emergency measures. Complies with medical records policies regarding the complete and accurate documentation of patient care. Initiates and maintains required records and legal documents. Current licensure to practice as a Physician’s Assistant from the State of Utah.

Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Preferred:

Certification in ACLS / BLS / NRP / ATLS may be required by your department or by privileging criteria.
