Maintain knowledge of all current emergency response (ER) related policies, procedures, and regulations applicable to SkyWest
Review partner carrier ER programs and agreements between their company and SkyWest Airlines for impact on SkyWest responsibilities and identify conflicts between partner carrier program/agreement requirements and SkyWest policies
Establish and modify all policies, procedures, instructions, and information contained in Emergency Response Manual SP 4800
Ensure partner carrier program requirements are addressed, and update/revise all materials as needed
Ensure updated ER information is provided to the Corporate Technical Publications and Standards Department for distribution to manual holders of Emergency Response Manual SP 4800
Review Safety Department SPs pertaining to the Emergency Response Program and update Emergency Response Manual SP 4800, as applicable
Function as the primary liaison between SkyWest Airlines and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) Transportation Disaster Assistance Division (TDA)
Develop and lead emergency response exercises involving activation of the Emergency Command Center (ECC) at Corporate headquarters
Ensure equipment in the ECC is tested to verify functionality (quarterly)
Ensure ECC is supplied and cleaned, as necessary
Maintain the company’s Emergency Notification System (ENS) and a list of employees within the ENS system
Attend airport full scale and/or tabletop exercises, when available
Attend industry meetings pertinent to National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) Family Assistance and Transportation Disaster Assistance
Attend all Major Partner meetings and drills as requested
Function as the SkyWest representative to the Regional Airlines Association (RAA) ER Subcommittee
Report conflicts to the Manager Security and Environmental Programs for resolution
Minimum Requirements
Public Safety, Aviation Management or Aviation Safety education/training
Able to comfortably address, communicate and interact with large audiences
Able to educate and train all SkyWest leadership on Emergency Response
Able to travel frequently
Able to work cooperatively with other departments, leadership, industry partners, and regulatory agencies
Demonstrate ability to lead teams and facilitate meetings/drills
Demonstrate ability to build influence across departments around company strategies
Demonstrate analytical and resolution skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Power Point)
Proficiency in presentation skills, including verbal and written communication
Preferred Skills:
Bachelor’s degree or comparable experience in a related field
Working knowledge of:
ICAO Annex 9
NTSB Family Assistance Act
NTSB Transportation Disaster Assistance (TDA)
FEMA National Incident Management System (NIMS)
Aircraft Accident Investigation Authority of the Bahama (AAIA)
Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB)
Agencia Federal Aviacin Civil (AFAC) Mexico procedures
Physical and Other Requirements
Authorized to work in the U.S.
Ability to obtain and hold a U.S. Passport
Position will be based in either St. George, UT or Salt Lake City, UT
