The applicant will employ electrophysiological, optical and molecular (including conditional KO mice) tools to understand the role of mechanosensitive ion channels in ocular function and glaucoma. He/she will manipulate expression of genes that encode mechanosensitive ion channels and calcium indicators channels using molecular techniques, viral vectors and mouse genetics. Experience in electrophysiological techniques or advanced molecular biology is preferred but not required. The opportunity to learn molecular biological, biochemical and imaging techniques is available. Required to meet FLSA threshold to be paid on a salaried basis.ResponsibilitiesEssential FunctionsWill conduct electrophysiological, imaging and molecular biology (transcriptomics) analyses in vitro and in vivo. The position requires independence, ability to conduct research, analyze experiments, write up and present the results, and participate in on-going collaborations within the University of Utah, nationally and internationally.
