Performs customer service, cash handling, and stocking of supplies.

Serves as a liaison on the in-patient units to ensure that meal order, delivery, and preparation needs are met.

Coordinates with other nutrition care staff to ensure that Nutrition Care Technician takes care of any and all special needs.

Ensures that menu items are stocked and patient trays are delivered and picked up from the units in a timely fashion.

Ensures food safety and cleanliness of work area.

Prepares patient trays, snacks and special orders, then delivers trays to the patient care units.

May be assigned to work cash register or perform other service functions.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.

Demonstrated communication and human relation skills.

Demonstrated basic math and computer skills.

Ability to manage special requests made by patients and their families and determine when to refer questions to Nutrition Technician or departmental supervisors.

Superficial knowledge of therapeutic diets.

QualificationsQualifications Required

This is an entry level position.

Current Food Handler Permit within one month of hire.

Licenses Required

One of the following

Current Utah Food Handler Permit.

Current Food Protection Manager certification, accredited by ANSI.

Additional license requirements as determined by the hiring department.Qualifications (Preferred)Preferred

Previous experience in a food service setting or healthcare setting.

Working Conditions and Physical DemandsEmployee must be able to meet the following requirements with or without an accommodation.

This position involves intermediate working conditions in a healthcare setting that may exert up to 50 pounds and may consistently require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving equipment or objects.

Subject to chemical hazards and equipment hazards and is standing and walking for sustained periods of time.

May be exposed to items discarded on patient trays including soiled bandages, tubing, spilled medications, bodily fluids, and equipment such as needles, clamps and scissors.
