Performs detailed data entry tasks, including entering contact information of prospective students, processing transcripts submitted from high schools and universities, and adding standardized test scores to current student records.

Enters information into computerized information systems.

Reviews input against source documents (transcripts) for accuracy and edits as needed.

Maintains document master files for backup and verification.

May be required to run queries and reports.

Will be required to research new applicants in search match system to determine if a new ID number needs to be assigned.

The Data Entry Specialist follows department and University policies along with State and Federal laws associated with the Office of Admissions.

Research and respond to email inquiries sent to the Document Imaging inbox.

Upload documents to computerized information system.

Incumbents in this position work under close supervision, perform repetitive tasks and will be required to perform under strict deadlines.

Minimum QualificationsTwo years data entry experience or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).Proficiency in the use of data entry equipment and demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills are also required. The hiring department may require a minimum typing ability.Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.PreferencesDepartment Specific Preferences:

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new software systems

Ability to relay complex information to students, parents, and other campus partners

Preference will be given to applicants previously employed by the University of Utah Office of Admissions/Operations

Preference will be given to applicants with experience with Hyland OnBase, Slate, and/or PeopleSoft programs.

Commitment of 19 hours per week

Ability to work at least three hours at a time

Foreign language desired but not necessary

Three years of general office experience, one of which in an academic setting; and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required. College coursework in a related area is preferred.

Special Instructions SummaryThis is a fully remote position. In order to perform the job responsibilities remotely, reliable internet connection and a personal computer with web cam are required. Staff are responsible for providing their own laptop or desktop and internet connection while working from home – compensation for these services are not provided.
