OverviewThe Director of Outpatient Services oversees the ambulatory operations and outpatient eye care services for the Moran Eye Centers across the University of Utah Health system.The Director of Outpatient Services is responsible for directing the operations and strategic planning of human resources, customer/patient services, and financial management in support of the goals and mission of the organization. The incumbent works with multiple departments, locations, physicians and staff to understand and meet the needs of the surrounding community.This position has no responsibility for providing care to patients.Leadership and oversight include Moran Clinics at the following locations:

John A. Moran Eye Center (University of Utah Campus)

Farmington Health Center

Midvalley Health Center (Murray)

Parkway Health Center (Orem)

Redstone Health Center (Park City)

Redwood Health Center

South Jordan Health Center

Stansbury Health Center

Westridge Health Center (West Valley)

Primary Children's Hospital (University of Utah Campus)

Primary Children's Hospital in Lehi

Qualified candidates must have completed:

Bachelor degree in Health Care Administration, Business Administration, or related area, or equivalency.

Six years of progressive management experience.

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree in Health Care Administration, Business Administration, or related area.

Six or more years of progressive ophthalmic clinic management experience.

Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT) is strongly preferred.

Building Relationships

Forms positive relationships with staff, peers, and senior leadership to support the mission, vision, values, and performance standards of the organization.

Actively engages staff with updates and news as well as involving staff in decisions and work teams. Provides feedback and recognition when appropriate.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.

Demonstrated leadership, human relations, and effective communication skills.

Ability to determine the appropriate staff mixes to support patient and customer needs.

Knowledge of hospital business operations and demonstrated strategic planning skills.

Knowledge of budgeting practices, reporting analysis, and forecasting.
