We seek an individual with demonstrated ability or strong potential for success in research and teaching in the area of students with extensive support needs (severe disabilities).Responsibilities Conduct and publish research in areas of specialization. Teach undergraduate, master, and doctoral level courses in the areas of general special education and severe disabilities. Engage in service to the profession and university. Engage in outreach to local and state agencies and the community. Seek extramural funding in the form of research or training grants.Required Qualifications An earned doctorate in special education or closely related field focused on supporting students with extensive support needs (severe disabilities) by August 15, 2024. A record of scholarly achievement or strong evidence of potential as a scholar in the area of severe disabilities. A demonstrated record or strong potential for effective teaching in higher education. Ability to develop and maintain strong collegial and collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, students, and members of the community. Demonstrated ability or strong potential for obtaining externally funded research or training grants. Minimum of three years of successful teaching or comparable experience in supporting students with extensive support needs.Preferred QualificationsPreference may be given to candidates who offer one or more of the following preferred qualifications:· BCBA credential and approval to provide supervision for BCBA candidates· Collaborative or cross-disciplinary research and teaching activities· Expertise in multiple research methodologies· Experience in teaching distance and on-line coursesSalary and benefit package are competitive with other research-intensive universities.File review will begin October 27, 2023 and will continue until the position is filled.
